It finally feels like we have come back from Christmas, I know we played Richmond after new year but with the fragmented start to the New Year fixture list is was good to have a full week back on the grass and have a game at the end of it.
As Ryan Gregory so eloquently put it "Training for training's sake is no fun at all".
This week took us to our old rivals Canterbury. It always is a tough fixture at Canterbury, the first round went convincingly to us. with a 50-8 win at Vallis Way. The score certainly didn't reflect the ability of the Canterbury side.
There was a nervous air in the changing room before the game, in some elements of our game we lacked a certain amount of control, we were created a hatful of chances, but were impatient to score and tried to force the final pass on too many occassions. Overall it was a good performance. We were pleased with our fitness levels even after not playing since the 2nd Jan, the hard work we put in over the breaks definately played dividends. I would like to offer my congratulations to Richard Briggs and Stuart Ware who both made their 1st XV debuts.
Thanks to all the travelling support that came to Canterbury.
We are looking forward to kicking on some momentum with the up and coming challenge that is Dings at home.
