Under 16s

Welcome to the U16s and the 2008/9 season at Vallis Way!

We have a fantastic group of players and parents many of whom have been with the Club since Horsenden Hill days, we are a very sociable bunch who take our rugby seriously but who also like to have fun!  As ever we welcome new players and look forward to a successful and enjoyable season both on and off the field.

We aim to continue to run two squads and compete in the Herts & Middx Leagues at both A & B level.

On the playing side, last season saw the B squad achieve their highest ever league finish with a great bunch of players and fantastic parental support while the A squad where desperately unlucky to be relegated from Division 1 in their final league match of the season.

This new season the Club have put in place a new U16's coaching structure with two new coaches under the direction of our Director of Junior Rugby (Corné Du Rand). This new coaching resource will deliver a high standard of coaching and coupled with the introduction of on-site physio support on Sundays plus the unrivalled facilities at Vallis Way, will enable us to deliver the best rugby experience and value for our players in the coming season.

Our two coaches for 2008/9 are;

Jamie Hobson

I love rugby and enjoy the challenges associated with coaching and developing youth rugby. I have played at high school and university level in South Africa, and began coaching four years ago. My experience includes coaching a school Under 16 squad and, more recently, a university side that are defending league champions.

I am looking forward to a fantastic season and hope for commitment from both players and parents so that we can take our rugby to another level, and most of all, enjoy playing this great sport!

Dave Essien

As part of the current Ealing 1st XV I am particularly delighted to be able to get involved with the development of our U16 squad. I hope to bring what I have learned from many years playing rugby at a high level and from the 1st XV coaching team to the U16s to make them all better players and to bring success to our great club. The future 1st XV players for Ealing will come from our Youth section so I am thrilled to be able to help bring these players forward.
